You don’t have to climb to the peak to feel the majesty of Kilimanjaro. Our Sneak Peek of the Peak Hike takes you along the first leg of the Marangu Route, trekking through lush rainforest alive with bird song, curious blue monkeys and maybe a glimpse of colobus. Starting with a scenic drive from Arusha to Marangu Gate, you’ll hike up to Mandara Hut, enjoy a picnic lunch with forest views, rest, then return by afternoon—immersed in nature, but back in time for dinner.
Morning – Pickup from your hotel in Arusha; depart toward Marangu Gate (≈ 3-hour drive)
Morning – Arrive at Marangu Gate; register & start hiking up through rainforest toward Mandara Hut.
Morning - afternoon – Picnic lunch en route (in forest) before arriving Mandara Hut around 14:00 hrs.
Afternoon – Rest at Mandara Hut (≈30 minutes) enjoying the views, catch your breath
Late Afternoon – Begin descent back to Marangu Gate (≈ 2.5 hours). Vehicle awaits at gate; transfer back to your hotel in Arusha; tour ends around 20:00 hrs

Transfers can be arranged between the airport, Arusha/Moshi, between hotels, restaurants and attractions, either on a seat-in-coach basis, or the private hire of an entire vehicle. All pick-up times are arranged to tie in with flight departures and scheduled tours. Our guides work to this timetable, collecting guests from each hotel en route to their intended destination.
