Selous (Nyerere) National Park

Selous, now officially called Nyerere National Park, is one of the largest and most pristine wildlife reserves in Africa. Known for its vast wilderness, river systems, and low tourist density, it offers an authentic safari experience in southern Tanzania.

Overview

Covering over 50,000 km², Selous/Nyerere National Park features miombo woodlands, savannahs, and the Rufiji River system. Its vast landscapes provide a true sense of wilderness, with opportunities for walking safaris, boat safaris, and game drives.

  • Birdwatching is excellent year-round, with wet season attracting migratory species
