Tarangire Safari Lodge is brilliantly positioned on a crest of a hill inside the national park, with astounding views over the elephant-rich savannah and the river below. This family-lodge is friendly, comfortable and unpretentious and offers good value for money. It’s particularly good for families, with the swimming pool a big plus for the little ones.

Tarangire Safari Lodge is the oldest lodge in the park. Resident wildlife is excellent because the camp has been established for so long, with the mature vegetation around the camp attracting a substantial number of bird species including hornbills. Animals, in particular elephants, often wander through the camp day and night, giving guests the opportunity to game watch from their own tent or from the side of the swimming pool.

A fabulous large stone and concrete patio forms the main part of the lodge, from where you can sit and admire the gorgeous panoramic view and see how many animals and birds you can spot beneath you as they gather to drink at the river.

The lodge staff – many of whom have worked here for a long time – are very friendly, and while the tents are fairly basic they are comfortable. This place is very good value for money which, combined with the swimming pool and relaxed atmosphere, makes is a great option for a family safari.
